Customers Who Love MOTI We're so proud to hear from customers who've had a great experience in MOTI, we wanted to pass them on to you. We hope you love MOTI too. Hi guys, Just wanted to say that I really appreciated the help and advice from Giles the other day when myself and my brother popped in. Im running the MdS in 2011 as a bit of a novice, and it was fantastic to speak to someone who has 'been there and done that'! He has fired me up for the training, but also the pointers on kit will be invaluable. All the advice has been etched onto the brain, and I will definitely be back in to get fully kitted out. I was after some salomon shoes, which were out of stock, but will be back to Bristol soon for some other bits of kit, and hopefully some more advice from Giles! Thanks guys. Great shop. Great staff. Keep it up. Kindest regards Graham Baily Dear moti I visited your shop on Whiteladies Road this afternoon and I wanted to comment on what a great experience it was. The moment I entered the shop the staff were engaging and ready to help. The young lady ( I am sorry I meant to ask her name ) that looked after me was excellent and gave me fantastic service and advice, the other staff made it a fun and enjoyable experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending your store to my friends and have already done so today. I felt I wanted to comment as I work in the service sector and really relish great service, but I don't come across it very often. Please could you pass on my thanks to the member of your team that looked after me so well and made it a pleasure, I just wished I'd removed the shoes without undoing the laces! Best wishes Christian Evans Can I just say how impressed I am by the customer service which I was blessed with at your shop last weekend. The care, time and attention Andy gave to find me the right fit was beyond what I have experienced for a long time. I would say it almost went beyond the call of duty. And the result is, in fact, a perfect fit, and I believe it will help me get over the knee problems I was just building up! I can only imagine you get a lot of positive feedback, but I feel I still wanted to make this known very clearly! Thank you very, very much Anja ![]() Moti’s Coach, Dave Bird has a fantastic result of 2 hrs 38 mins at Florence Marathon Fantastic Result for Florence, I arrived in Florence a few days before the marathon and made the most of the carbo-loading cuisine. I was assigned to the 3-3.5hrs pen due to my lack of marathon experience. It was jam packed and closed just before the start, but this did not stop late arrivals scaling the barriers in Roman siege mentality. Finally, after the umpteenth pointless shoelace check, the clocks and GPS enabled watches struck nine twenty and we were off. A conservative first mile ensued. I worked through the slower than predicted race time in the field, earning successive red cards in another sport for elbow offences. Half way in at 81mins, I was feeling pretty good but like in a Tolkien epic not quite sure whether that boded well for what was to come. I braced myself at the 20mile point for the onset of wall hitting symptoms just as one of my gel providers forgot what I looked like, missed the baton change and chased after me at 12:10 pace. I blessed my preparedness, despite never joining the scouts, and devoured the emergency supply in my pocket. Into those final miles, as I passed major sites of huge historical and cultural significance, in a state of fuel depleted indifference but kept up a fixated gaze on my GPS relentless schedule. Finally, across the line in 2 hours 38 mins, months of training vindicated in one of the most enjoyable races I have ever run. Dave offers individual and group coaching (training sessions and seminars) catering for both novice and more experienced runners. He will help you to achieve challenging goals effectively and safely, whilst boosting your health and general wellbeing. You will follow training programmes tailored to your needs, and you won’t be nagged into following boring, unrealistic schedules! He aims to develop you as an empowered athlete beyond just better race performances. Keeping warm with clothing on winter runs Here's some tips on clothing to stay warm during the winter runs. Layer, layer and layer again with technical fabrics! Why layer? Many of you will have heard this call for layers before but for those who haven't, layers are the key to effective heat regulation. i.e. With the minimum of clothing, staying warm in the winter and staying cool in the summer. The often seen runners kit of thick jumpers and cotton t-shirts keep you too hot or too cold! BUT a double or triple layer of lightweight synthetic fabric is ideal for outside activities and here's how it works: FIRST LAYER When moisture evaporates from the skin it has a cooling effect on the body but when it evaporates from a garment it doesn't. The technical synthetic fibers used in modern active wear are designed with a larger surface area on the outer side than on the inner. This has the effect of pulling (or 'wicking') moisture away from the skin. Cotton, on the other hand, keeps sweat within the fibers and when you stop this cools and chills the body. So, you stay warm and dryer with a synthetic base layer. Take the Craft Pro Zero Extreme http://shop.mymoti.com/1156/products/CRA....W09_190983.aspx SECOND LAYER Layer two can be a windproof garment or 'jumper'. The wind chills more quickly and more noticeably than the ambient air temperature alone (especially if that wind hits a wet cotton t-shirt...brrrrrrrr). So using a wind-stopping second layer keeps you warmer by keeping away wind chill. For less windy days or if you need more warmth use a jumper, again made from synthetic materials. This can be windproof too so you may not need to run with a jacket at all! Fyi: Windproofing material is equivalent to a thinner version of Gore-tex and so is waterproof in the areas where it is applied. For example, a windproof top: http://shop.mymoti.com/2563/products/_MI....09_67MF980.aspx Still not convinced? Let's look at the polar opposite (no pun intended) ...you go out in a cotton t-shirt and a thick jumper. You become too hot within 5 minutes, take the jumper off and then freeze as the sweat chills the body when held within the cotton fibres. Come in and try the garments, ask us any questions and enjoy warmer, lighter-weight winter running. | |||
