The Lloyds TSB Cardiff Half Marathon on Sun 17th Oct is approaching fast! MOTI along with The Running School are staging two FREE workshops to help support you for this years race. The workshops are suitable for everyone, from total novices through to those more experienced. You’ll run away with the information and support you’ll need to prepare for the upcoming half marathon.
The workshops begin with a coached practical session, followed by a theory session with our panel of experts from MOTI and The Running School.
Each workshop will concentrate on many key areas but will also give an opportunity to discuss any issues one might have either as a group or one to one. Some of the areas we cover during these sessions are…
> Conditioning and Running drills
> How to improve endurance without overtraining
> Specific training programs for specific goals
> Strength exercises and stretches for running
> Advice on injury prevention
> Planning your race
> Getting your race nutrition right, with free samples
> How to choose the right running shoes
During each workshop, MOTI will be providing a free specialist Video Gait Analysis service. The aim is to give runners advice on what kind of shoes they should be running in to avoid injury and increase their comfort.
An injury advice service will be provided by MOTI’s Physiotherapist Leon Vaughan during the evening. All runners will also get the chance to sample and take home nutrition products including gels, chews, bars and drinks.

Both of the run groups here at Moti are a great chance to enjoy your training in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
Wednesday training sessions involve a steady run, for about 50 mins, around the Roath park and lake area. The session is taken by Daniel and the route is changed on a regular basis. This type of continuous training is an ideal way to improve your fitness, and is suitable for all abilities.
Saturday morning sessions are taken by Rich and will be aimed at improving fitness using a combination of Interval work and hill repetitions. This sort of training is ideal for improving your aerobic capacity to make those mid-week runs easier.
Interval training is a great way to break up your mileage and increase fitness by simply employing an active recovery.
Hill repetitions are perfect for building strength and add diversity and an element of speed to your training, which in turn keeps you much sharper and keeps the training fresh.
So why not come along...we look forward to seeing you.
